How the US conducts
surveillance and investigation of electronic
communication media-particularly the internet-is largely shaped by three pieces
of legislation: Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing
Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act (USA PATRIOT
Act)
According to Fox's
Catherine Herridge, Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz
sought interviews with the witnesses early in his investigation into whether the FBI abused the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in its investigation of the Trump campaign.
Investigation Update On October
21, 2016, DOJ and FBI sought and received a FISA probable
cause order (up; under Title VII) authorizing electronic surveillance on Carter
Page from the FISC.
Barr also told lawmakers
during a House Appropriations Committee hearing that he is reviewing how the
FBI handled the counterintelligence investigation of
the Trump campaign that began in summer 2016. "The office of the inspector
general has a pending investigation of
the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] process in the Russia ...
The revelation of secret
court orders to wiretap former Trump campaign spokesman Paul Manafort before
and after the 2016 election is a "felony," and the Justice Department
should investigate the leak, his spokesman charged.
That's when diGenova
confirmed his news: "Rosenstein is under investigation for
things that involve the FISA warrants."
Hannity, of course, has been hot on the FISA abuse
story from the very beginning. "There is no doubt that a conspiracy to
commit fraud multiple times against FISA judges did
take place," he said just last week.

election committed by then-President Barack Obama's DOJ and, specifically, the
FBI.
Former FBI Director James
Comey signed three of the FISA applications,
while former deputy director Andrew McCabe's signature was on at least one. A
key claim in the Nunes memo was that the FBI and DOJ did not properly disclose
to the FISA court that the Steele dossier was a partisan
product funded by the Clinton campaign.
Graham also called on
Attorney General Bill Barr to appoint a new special counsel to investigate
"the other side of the story," which would include impropriety in
obtaining the FISA warrants ...
