Ghali praised the president's response to COVID-19, speaking of his own experience getting rapid testing and treatment for the illness caused by the novel coronavirus. Trump has been criticized for the uneven availability and distribution of COVID-19 tests as well as lags on some test results. The party planned a mix of virtual and in-person events in North Carolina and Washington, D.C., for its nominating convention after the coronavirus pandemic interrupted plans for a traditional nominating event."
