WATCH: Mark and Patricia McCloskey defend right to firearms | 2020 RNC Night 1

"Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who drew national attention after pointing guns at Black Lives Matter protesters outside of their St. Louis home, defended the right to use guns for self-defense and to defend property on the first night of the Republican National Convention on Aug. 24, 2020. The couple claimed protesters knocked down a gate and disregarded a do not trespass sign; protesters said their demonstration was peaceful. Charges were filed against the couple, drawing criticism from Republican officials; the state’s attorney general asked the court to throw out the charges, and the governor said he would pardon the couple if convicted.The party planned a mix of virtual and in-person events in North Carolina and Washington, D.C., for its nominating convention after the coronavirus pandemic interrupted plans for a traditional nominating event."
